Lanny McDonald In A Calgary Flames Uniform Bearcat Murray: From Ol Potlicker To Calgary Flames Legend

Lanny McDonald is a true hockey legend. He played 16 seasons in the NHL, winning four Stanley Cups with the Calgary Flames. He was also a member of the Canadian national team that won the gold medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics.

McDonald's journey to the NHL was not an easy one. He grew up in a poor family in Hanna, Alberta. His father was a coal miner and his mother worked as a waitress. McDonald started playing hockey at a young age, but he was not considered a top prospect. He was small and slow, and he did not have the flashy skills of some of his peers.
