Early Life and Career

Sammy Sosa was born on November 12, 1968, in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. He began playing baseball at a young age, and by the time he was 16, he was signed by the Texas Rangers. Sosa made his Major League Baseball debut in 1989, and quickly became one of the most feared hitters in the league.
